ABOUT KÜTAHYA

Kütahya has a 5 thousand year-old history starting with the civilization of Hittite and covering Phrygian, Rome, Byzantine, Seljuk, Germiyan periods. Many important events of our history took place in our city, where is the center of world’s ceramics and had been the capital of Germiyan Beylik for 130 years and the headquarter of the Ottoman Anatolia Beylerbeylik for 400 years. The first Collective Labor Agreement in history was signed by and between the masters of handicrafts and foremen on 13 July 1766 at Kütahya.

Having a great many of the facilities of alternative tourism, our city offers a great potential for CULTURAL TOURISM through its 5 thousand year-old archeological, historical and cultural wealth, for HEALTH TOURISM through its hot springs with healing powers, and for NATURE TOURISM through its forests covering 53 percent of the city ,and its Phrygian Valley and its oneday recreation areas .
