The handover ceremony arranged at the City Council of Kütahya Culture and Art Center of the poetry book Kalemden Kalbe ,written by Şaban Şükrü Sarı -one of our city’s poets- with Kütahya Dialect and published by means of Kütahya Governorate, attended by our Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu .

Having given a speech there , our Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu said :

“We support art and artists all the way since the day we were appointed. The building we are occupying is allocated by our Municipality for our artists . The allocation of such place as a Culture and Art Center is a sport for our artists who aspire to work. From now on, we stand by art and our artists.”

Having signed the poetry book Kalemden Kalbe ,written by Şaban Şükrü Sarı -one of our city’s poets- and published by means of Kütahya Governorate, he handed over it to our Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu as a gift.

Our Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu viewing the works created and exhibited by the artists, got information about them from the authorities before the handover ceremony of the Poetry Book took place at the City Council of Kütahya Culture and Art Center.

The handover ceremony of the Poetry Book was attended by Governor Esteemed Şerif Yılmaz, our Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu, the President of the City Council of Kütahya Culture and Art Center and Members, the Poet Şaban Şükrü Sarı, the artists of the Culture Center and the guests.

The Year-End Exhibition of Kütahya Municipality Education Center for Handicrafts was inaugurated at Municipality Culture Palace.

Having given a speech at there, our Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu said:

All of you welcome to the opening of The Year-End Exhibition of Kütahya Municipality Education Center for Handicrafts.

The students attend the courses on machine embroidery (clothing) and tailoring in order to meet their needs or contribute in their family budgets and sell them in tourism events as souvenirs. Municipality Handicrafts Courses have been carried out since 1974. The courses were given in 4 districts in this year and these are; Maltepe ,Sosyal Konutlar, Lala Hüseyin Paşa, Bahçelievler.

40 people in the course on Machine Embroidery, and 24 people in the course on Ready-Made Clothing (tailoring), 64 people in total received their education as two terms. 52 of them were entitled to receive their certificates.

Besides remaining our handicrafts vivid and handing down them to the next generations, the focal point here is the effort for making them take place in the economy.

I would like to thank our teachers of the courses initially and thank our students and those who contributed to the arrangement of our exhibition.” The Governor Esteemed Şerif Yılmaz, Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu and the protocol members presented their certificates to the students completing the courses on clothing and embroidery initiated with collaboration of the Directorate of Municipality and Public Education Center for 8 months at the districts of Maltepe, Lala Hüseyin Paşa, 100. Yıl and Bahçelievler.

Our Governor Esteemed Şerif Yılmaz, the Mayor Esteemed Kamil Saraçoğlu, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Özdoğan, Director of National Education Coşkun Esen, Vice President of Public Education Canter Ahmet Özçelik, Central District Chairman of (AK) Party Sabahattin Ceyhun, the Head of Women’s Branches of Justice and Development (AK) Party Ceyda Çetinerenler, the Head of Muhtarlar Derneği Zeki Arı, directors of boards, members of parliament, students and guests attended the exhibition’s opening.

The award ceremony of Kütahya Municipality International Tile was held. Our Mayor of Kütahya Municipality Kamil Saraçoğlu ,who always attaches great importance to art and artists, contributed to the development of our tiles and demonstrated how much he appreciates the artists once again by means of this competition .

Our Mayor of Kütahya Municipality Kamil Saraçoğlu , Sadık Erilbaylı , Prof.Dr. Ahmet Kavas and Prof.Dr.Faruk Bozgöz both from Medeniyet University, AhmedeiCheickgurei from Somali ,Mehmet Gürsoy, İsmail Yiğit and Adil Özkan presented their awards to the winners of Kütahya Municipality International Tile.

Our guests from 33 countries , who came to attend the Conference on The Reflections of Coup D’état Attempt on 15 July in Islamic Geography, viewed the exhibitions at the fair area after the award ceremony.

Having stated that such courses on Handcrafts, Philography, Felt , Leather, Point Lacing, Embroidery,Cook Apprenticeship , Clothing, Bağlama, Folk Dances, Photography, Sgrafitto , and the courses on Kpss and Ceramics for disabled people were given in this education year ,our Mayor Kamil Saraçoğlu said,” Our year- end exhibition which we inaugurated in collaboration with the directorate of public education as we do annually, is a common exhibition of our courses . I would like to thank the teachers of the courses who contributed to them and thank the students taken our courses.” Having visited the exhibition arranged by the students of Kütahya Municipality and Public Education Center later on ,our Mayor got information from the teachers and students of the courses.

Having been arranged for 40 years in Kütahya, International Kütahya Craftworks and Trade Fair has opened as “The Festival of Tile, Thermal, Culture, Art and Tourism” this year for the 41st time.

Having given a speech at the opening ceremony of the festival being arranged at the fair area of Kütahya, the Mayor of Kütahya Municipality stated that the fair events started to be arranged 40 years ago are inaugurated for the 41st time this year as “The Festival of Tile, Thermal, Culture, Art and Tourism” . Stating that they turned International Kütahya Craftworks and Trade Fair into a festival because of the fact that the importance of the fairs whose ambiance started to remind kermises, Saraçoğlu said:

Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir received Director of Provincial of Culture and Tourism ZülkarniYeldemez and the board along with him within the scope of the 41st Tourism Week events.

Director of Provincial of Culture and Tourism Zülkarni Yeldemez gave information about the importance of Tourism week and the events that will go on during the week to Governor Nayir.

Having stated that Kütahya is a rising star of the future with its thermal, health, culture and history, Zülkarni Yeldemez said,” It is celebrated on 15-22 April annually as the tourism week in order to develop the sense of tourism in our society, develop domestic tourism and gain the citizens’ attention in tourism .Thus, the 41st one is celebrated this year as well. Tourism makes great contributions to a country’s economy and it is an extremely important value. Kütahya is an important city of ours with its historical and cultural values. We consider Kütahya as the rising star of the future.”

“AT FIRST WE SHOULD KNOW OUR CITY AND REALIZE OUR POTENTIAL”

Having emphasized that the values of Kütahya should be benefited from by being utilized in the best possible way, Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir said ,” Tourism has become an important factor in a country’s economy and its importance is increasing day by day. At first we should know our city and realize our potential in order to utilize them in the best way possible. When we consider the tourism according to Kütahya, it can be defined in with two categories; history and nature. When we consider the history, we have a piece of land that had witnessed important moments from the Hittites to Phrygians, from Rome to Byzantine, from Seljuk to Germiyan , from Ottoman to the first period of our Republic. We have managed to pass on many aspects from our food to music , our handicrafts, and the traces of primeval cultures to date . We should be able to utilize them. These values are not only our values, but also they are the shared values of the humanity. Thus, we should know how to share them when we talk about tourism. Talking about nature, we have a green city covered its 56 percent with forests. We have geothermal resources which constitute the foundation of health tourism and have great importance for the future. Therefore we should be able to utilize both our forests covering 56 percent of the city and our geothermal resources to the fullest. We have such beauties that can’t be found anywhere else. One of them is Murat Mountain. It is one of the important values of ours, making it possible to ski in an extended period of time during the year at 2,312 meters height and with its hot springs at its 1,450th meter. The more we utilize them the more we develop our tourism.”

“WE SHOULD WORK COLLABORATELY”

Having underlined that the tourism in Kütahya will be developed through collaborating, Governor Vali Ahmet Hamdi Nayir said;” Tourism is an aspect that contributes to economy, relationships, social and political factors. Therefore, every country’s target and every government’s schedule cover the important topics on tourism . Taking advantage of this week, we should have a program that contribute to the works carried out in collaboration with local government, local boards, universities, NGOs in order to make us know our city first ourselves, then determine the focal point in our promotion , set our goals and find a way to realize, achieve them. Every organization has their distinctive program, work. As the Governorate, it is our responsibility to both improve the course of action, our the beautiful events we carried out throughout the history through a way in which they handed down to future and contribute to our city’s economy by promoting them through gathering all these works together . 41st Tourism Week’s events were carried on with a ceremony took place in front of the Governorate after the office was visited. The Governor of Kütahya Ahmet Hamdi Nayir, Mayor Kamil Saraçoğlui Deputy Governor Arif Yalçın, representatives of NGOs, some of the heads of departments, sector representatives and students attended the ceremony started with the placement of a wreath on the monument of Atatürk by the Director of Provincial of Culture and Tourism Zülkarni Yeldemez.

Having given the opening speech of the ceremony, the Director of Provincial of Culture and Tourism Zülkarni Yeldemez said,” The unique city of a primeval civilization, Kütahya is a city worth visiting with its historical and natural beauties, its rich ground and underground sources, centers for thermal tourism, traditional handicrafts and cultural values. Kütahya was a place for an establishment at Domaniç and a place for a salvation at Dumlupınar and Zafertepe. It is Evliya Çelebi’s city who is regarded as a well-known traveler, scientist, historian and a writer and the master and father of tourism . It is one of the most important centers of mevleviyeh . It is the city of saints. It is the city of shahzadas. It is the city of men of letters, poets and writers. It is the city of libraries. It is the city of museums. It is the city of mansions. It is a capital city because of the fact that it was the capital of Germiyan Beylik for 130 years. Our city Kütahya includes many first-evers . World’s first exchange , the most unscathed Temple of Zeus that remained standing in the world, the only example of a construction of a theatre and stadium side by side in Çavdarhisar district at the ancient city of Aizanoi . Furthermore , The first Collective Labor Agreement in history was signed in 1766 at Kütahya.

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) included Aizanoi Antique City in World Cultural Heritage Tentative List in 2012 and Phrygian Valleys in which Phrygian civilization had lived in 2015. Likewise, one of the most important handicrafts of our city, our art of tile-making which has been developing and continuing since 14th century , was included in Non-Physical Cultural Heritage List at UNESCO’s meeting held in 2016 at Ethiopia.48 out of 66 craftsmen taking Craftsman Certificate of Folk Culture from our Ministry were in the branch of Art of Tile-Making in our city. 8 out of 80 Thermal Tourism Centers in Turkey which were officially recognized in accordance with the Council of Ministers’ decision are located in Kütahya . Moreover, we have one Nature Tourism Center.Our Thermal Hot Springs are regarded to be beneficial for many diseases from rheumatism to paralyses, from gynecological disorders to neurological disorders. Our city, Kütahya rapidly moves forward on the way of becoming an attraction point, attraction center by means of these aspects in the near future.”

The ceremony ended with the performance of Ferace Halk Oyunları Topluluğu of Kütahya Public Education after the stands were visited.

Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir inaugurated the exhibition which was arranged in collaboration with Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism and Kütahya Chamber of Photographers, Craftsmen of Tile, Handicrafts Tradesmen and Craftsmen within the scope of 41st Tourism Week Festivals and will be displayed for visitors.

Besides the Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir, Deputy Governor Arif Yalçın, Deputy Mayor Ali İhsan Ertaş, Director of Provincial of Culture and Tourism Zülkarni Yeldemez, Chairman of Kütahya Chamber of Photographers, Craftsmen of Tile, Handicrafts Tradesmen and Craftsmen Sadık Erilbaylı, craftsmen, the lovers of art and students attended the opening at Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism’s Exhibition Hall.

Having viewed the works of the Mustafa Dumanlar, Halim Yıldız, Kürşat Aydın, Hakan Kulkoç, İbrahim Kocaoğlu, Mustafa Kerkük and Mehmet Alpay Balta, the craftsmen of tile, got information from them regarding their works.

The exhibition ended after the students ,who ranked in the top numbers regarding the competitions on drawing, poem and essay arranged due to 41st Tourism Week, received their awards . Governor Ahmet Hamdi Nayir and the protocol members presented their awards to the successful students.

Having been a host for the civilizations of Hittite, Phrygian, Rome, Hellen, Byzantine, Seljuk, Germiyan and Ottoman since the chalcolithic age, Kütahya always gained its reputation by its tile and ceramic manufacturing , along with its 7 thousand year old ancient history. It earned its place in the history books not only owing to the works created by the artists and artisans trained there in this field, but also its feature of being one of the few tile and ceramic centers in the world.

Having been personally commanded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on 30 August 1922, the Battle of Dumlupınar for which 137,000 martyrs lost their life became an important milestone in Turkey’s history, made Kütahya achieve a significant position in the history.

In fact, 2011 has been announced as the year of Evliya Çelebi by UNESCO. In addition to this, Evliya Çelebi , the most important traveler of the Ottoman Empire, was pointed to rank among the top 20 people have contributed to the integration of various cultures most throughout the human history by the Council of Europe. Even 329 years after his death, Evliya Çelebi ,who was a citizen of Kütahya originally, managed to bring Kütahya forward at the international level.

The 2nd Dumlupınar Ceramics Competition and the 2nd Evliya Çelebi Tile Competition arranged for the first time in February 2014 are being carried out in cooperation with the Department of Ceramic and Glass of Fine Arts Faculty of Dumlupınar University and Kütahya Foundation of Culture and Promotion and by means of the grant fund of the Representation of Ministry of Culture and Tourism Promotion Fund of Prime Ministry and Keramika Seramik and ÇiniKop corporations’ sponsorships.

Selective Committee Meetings of the competitions held on 04.05.2015 and 27 out of 116 ceramic works competing for the 2nd Dumlupınar Ceramics Competition entitled to be exhibited and 6 out of them entitled to be awarded. 50 out of 61 works competing for the 2nd Evliya Çelebi Tile Competition entitled to be exhibited and 7 out of them entitled to be awarded. The results of the competitions were announced on the webpage of the University and the Faculty.

The winners of the competitions will receive their awards at the award ceremony that will be held on 18 May 2015 at DPU Fine Arts Faculty and the opening cocktail for the exhibition of the competitions will be held afterwards. The exhibition of the competitions will be open until 26 May 2015. All the art lovers are invited.

 

The Panel on Non-Physical Cultural Heritages was held by Kütahya Research and Application Center for Folk Dances of our University with the participation of the president of UNESCO Turkish National Commission and Specialized Comittee of UTMK Non-physical Cultural Heritages Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz, the members of Specialized Comittee of UTMK NonPhysical Cultural Heritages Assoc. Prof. Evrim Ölçer Özünel, the member of Specialized Comittee of UTMK Non-Physical Cultural Heritages Dr. Selcan Gürçayır as the speakers.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Literature Prof. Dr. Anıl İça, academic stuff and students attended the panel. Giving a speech about the role of media with regard to non-psychical cultural heritages and its expression, Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz emphasized the importance of education by stressing the protection of non-physical cultural heritages and its expression. He stated that advertisements, series and movies in media using other cultural elements instead of ours. Thus, this causes a problem in having our cultures handed down to the next generations so that they start to forget their own culture.

Having explained non-physical cultural heritages (SOKÜM), Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz said,” They refer to applications, representations, expressions, information, skills, equipments regarding them and cultural places defined by communities, groups and individuals in some cases as a part of their cultural heritage. Depending on their interactions with the nature and their history, these non-psychical cultural heritages handed down from generation to generation are constantly recreated ,so they develop a sense of identity and sustainability. Explaining non -physical cultural heritages (SOKÜM) for Turkey, knowledge, experiences and visions, Assoc. Prof. Evrim Ölçer Özünel got across the examples of the works about the inventory of culture, the process of listing them and their working processes to the audience He also passed on information about the works regarding sustainable development and intercultural dialogues carried out by the institution.

Having mentioned the relationship between non -physical cultural heritages and education, Dr. Selcan Gürçayır Teke emphasized that non -physical cultural heritages are threatened by globalization, non -physical cultural heritages are replaced by other cultures because of the fact that fade away due to globalization and media, traditional cultures are getting weaker in the face of modernity, young people are losing their interests in non -physical cultural heritages day by day, the acceleration of the maintenance and consumption of information causes problems in learning non -physical cultural heritages and realizing them.

The guests answered the questions of the audience after the speeches Moreover, our Rector Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören presented the guests their gifts and Prof. Dr. M. Öcal Oğuz presented the publications of UNESCO as to Prof. Dr. Remzi Gören and the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Literature Prof. Dr. Anıl İça as a gift.

International Craftworks and Trade Fair being held for the 40th time was inaugurated through a ceremony this year in Kütahya.

The fair established in the area at the first kilometer of the Kütahya- Eskişehir highway is participated by 313 corporations and 13 of them are from abroad.

Having stated that a fair is a great opportunity for promoting cities to guests from both abroad and inside the country in his speech, the Mayor of Kütahya Municipality Kamil Saraçoğlu said,

“To attract more tourists to our city should be one of our priorities. We need to put our values forward and think ” How can we advertise them ?”. This place is regarded as the largest fair posterior to İzmir. Our fair offers services along with its 5 thousand 80 square meters indoor area and 70 thousand square meters outdoor area. Corporations from abroad visits here. Corporations from Kenya, Senegal, Pakistan, India, and Russia have established their stands. They are promoting the products and cultures of their countries to us.”

Georgia Folk Team performed a show after the speeches.

Later on, the protocol members visited the stands at the fair.

The fair in which the team of “Russian Circus” will perform their shows every night, will remain open till 30 August.

Having been arranged within the scope of the operations carried out by the General Assembly of WIPO , The Exhibition on Geographical Indications of Turkey containing our traditional values ,which was held on 3-11 December at Geneva, was inaugurated .

The opening of the exhibition was performed by the President of Turkish Patent Institute (TPE) Prof. Habip ASAN ,Director General of WIPO Francis GURRY and the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Turkey to World Trade Organization Haluk ILICAK.

After the opening, the President of Turkish Patent Institute (TPE) Prof. Habip ASAN, Director General of WIPO Francis GURRY and the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Turkey to World Trade Organization Haluk ILICAK visited the exhibition.

The exhibition organized in collaboration with TPE and Ministry of Culture and Tourism will remain open until 4-5 December at the establishment of WIPO.

Besides Antep Baklava ,officially registered by also EU, and Aydın Fig, Gemlik Olive, Giresun Fat Hazelnut,Malatya Apricot, Mersin Cezerye, Safranbolu Turkish Delight, Afyon Marble, Antep Kutnu Cloth, Antep Mother of Pearl Inlaying, Devrek Walking Stick, Eskişehir Meerschaum, İznik Tile, Oltu Stone, Görece Evil Eye Talisman, Gönen Point Lace, Erzincan Copper Processing Art ,Kütahya Ceramics, Hereke Carpet, Mardin Stone, Trabzon’ Filigree and Mesh Gold geographical indications take place at the exhibition. Our geographical indications formed by the natural wealth of our country’s natural and human wealth are aspired to be promoted by means of this exhibition which is expected to be visited by 600 people besides the ambassadors from 189 Member Countries of United Nations, presidents of intellectual and industrial property offices.
